it's the only game in town
it knocks my socks off, blows my mind, and reveals to me Beauty in every thing.
My muse has found expression in diverse mediums - the visual arts being one.
From a young age I've messed around mostly in pencil and a little bit in oils, learning by trial and a lot of error.
In 1982 Art Maui accepted a pencil piece, and a photograph also made it in during one of those early years.
Long hiatuses ensued after that, with my creative juices flowing mostly into my garden, spattered by little bursts on paper or canvass.
Then she seriously started welling up again, and in March 2011 she captured my heart with the watery flow of color...
I am mesmerized as it does its own thing, leading the way for me to follow.
Thanks to the late Connie Adams, and Carmen Gardner, for instruction as I waded into the water, trailing color in my wake. Jeanne Dobie's book "Making Color Sing" floods my eye-scape and lights up my inspiration.
In the fall of 2012 I took an eye-opening / mind-bending series of tri-hue watercolor classes with artist, educator, and visionary, Dick Nelson.
The first watercolor to be accepted into an exhibition was in East Maui Watershed Partnership's native species art show at Viewpoints Gallery - Malama Wao Akua 2011. I was very pleased, and am doubly pleased to have had another watercolor accepted into their 2012 show!
Delighted to have had an entry chosen for Art Maui 2012 ... that one sold as a purchase pledge before the show opened! Thank you, Tess and Bob Cartwright!
For Art Maui 2014 another watercolor was among the 65 chosen pieces.
